The Labor government hopes to win the general election in a few weeks. According to its latest policy, the beer tax will be frozen for the next two years after a 10% increase in 2022.
In some places in Sydney, the price of a beer from the School was as high as 15 Australian dollars. Australia was the world’s third-highest producer of beer.
Albertini announced on Saturday that he would freeze taxes on draft beer for the next two years, after bar owners said the rising consumption tax was putting them out of business.
In the past two years, the cost of beer had been soaring with the rise in the price of beer, and there would be two price adjustments every year.

“The Labor government is building Australia’s future, and for that, we need to support the growth of small and medium-sized local businesses. Freezing the draft beer consumption tax is a common sense measure that benefits beer drinkers, brewers and pubs.”
The Alliance Party, led by Scott Morrison, was close to announcing this policy during the 2022 election, but in the months before that, the Alliance Party had been hesitant.
In January, the deputy leader of the Liberal Party, Sussan Ley, opened the door for the Alliance to re-examine the beer consumption tax and said that they were “looking at all the issues regarding taxation”.
“It’s all within our considerations,” Ms. Ley said.”We’re in an election year and people can look forward to more than just this, but to hearing more of our voices on everything.”
When National Party leader David Littleproud announced in September that the policy was one of the policies being considered by the Alliance, it was opposed by senior Liberal Party officials, including Treasury spokesperson Angus Taylor.
According to the Independent Brewers Association, the average price of a liter of beer in Australia has risen by 6.2% in the past 12 months, and since the start of 2022, the price of beer has risen by 10.5%.
About 21% of the price of a six-pack full ale was directly used for tax purposes.
Treasury Secretary Jim Chalmers said the increase was not large, but it would have a positive impact.
“This is a mild change, but it will help relieve the pressure on beer drinkers, brewers and pubs.”
This was the latest move taken by the Labor Party on the alcohol industry after the Labor Party promised to reduce taxes for brewers and retorts.
Currently, the industry can receive a full refund of up to $350,000 a year, but the Albertini government has promised to increase the tax refund to $400,000.
